Human-Wildlife Conflict in the Greater Kruger Landscape

Human-wildlife conflict (HWC) is a well-known issue in the Greater Kruger region. It is a socio-economic challenge as it is a conservation concern. By threatening people’s lives, livelihoods and properties, HWC impacts relationships between affected communities and wildlife, protected areas and the people tasked to manage wildlife. It is a dynamic, emotive and complex challenge that requires integrated solutions. Therefore, effective management of HWC must benefit and include input from all stakeholders involved and require collaboration.
