Summary
The Indigenous Fagagara Clan have elected to protect 4,176ha of forest through their Inaina Wildlife Management Area, Papua New Guinea. The area is home to the endangered Queen Alexandra's Birdwing butterfly (the world’s largest butterfly species) and the vulnerable Eastern long beaked echidna. The Fagagara Clan wants to guard against conversion to palm oil, cocoa, and coffee plantations by building a forest ranger program, reforesting 1,500ha and starting ecotourism enterprises.
