In Semporna, our team works with youths from Kulapuan, Selakan, Larapan and Mabul islands and established Community Marine Conservation Groups (CMCGs) in each island to do marine conservation work and empowering the youths to advocate for marine conservation.

They also work with the Larapan community and implement the Larapan Waste Management Programme. Bins were constructed around the village, community engagement, school awareness programmes and the awarding of ‘Excellent Certificates’ participating households were also done.

The team are also preparing a management plan for twelve islands under the Mabul and Pom-Pom clusters. They have also started ocean literacy-based programmes to highlight marine ecosystems' essential value and conservation efforts' benefits.
