As a packaging solutions provider, paperboard is critical to SIG’s business. SIG is committed to supporting responsible forestry and in 2021, SIG secured 100% of its paperboard as FSC™-certified. Today, nearly 100% of the carton packs it produces is carrying the FSC logo. In 2020, SIG launched its Forest Positive commitment, to create, restore, protect, or improve the management of 650,000 hectares of thriving forests – more than it takes to make its products.
WWF and SIG will work on increasing transparency as they work on maintaining and going beyond their sourcing commitments, as well as defining criteria for further investments in forests with suppliers. SIG is engaging suppliers, customers, investors and peers to contribute to forest restoration and improved forest management through forest landscape projects and joint efforts to facilitate market shifts to responsible sourcing and forestry.
