Summary
Trio and Wayana Protect Land and Nature in South Suriname (TWTIS): The 7.2 million ha of intact forest, which generates roughly 70% of Suriname’s freshwater resources, stores approximately 5.8 Gigatons of CO2e and sequesters roughly 3.8 million tons of CO2e annually. TWTIS is a continuous tract of pristine tropical rainforest, home to vast biodiversity, and houses the unique cultural heritage of the Trio and Wayana tribes.
