Project
The Badely Cooperative

Welcome to the Badely Cooperative created around the valorisation of Desert Date Tree, the social business Toogga based in Mauritania and France creating beauty and health products, and of course the star of the show: the Desert Date aka Balanites Aegyptiaca aka Toogga, whose success shall be comparable to that of its cousin from south-west morocco, Argan.

The Badely women cooperative was established in 2013 and is comprised of thirty female heads of households Harratines, one of the most vulnerable segments of the Mauritanian population. It owns 3 land plots, with a total surface area of approximately 15 ha and is located east of Aleg in southern Mauritania. It benefited from funding and know-how from national and international actors. The Badely Cooperative ensures the supply of desert dates to the social Business Toogga.

Toogga SARL was founded in 2015 as social business for health and beauty products sourced directly from the Sahel. It has a laboratory in Nouakchott and in France, where it manufactures cold-processed soaps and is also active in the US. Toogga was co-founded by Mohamed Baba, university professor at the Institute of Chemistry of Clermont-Ferrand (ICCF) in France.
