Tulan Private Nature Reserve is a 430 Ha degraded forest located south of the Tikal National Park in Peten, Guatemala. It is part of a Biological Corridor which will connect 4 protected areas and the third largest lake in Guatemala. It mainly consists of low forest which has been degraded in the past by illigal logging and forest fires. This area is the home of the jaguar an tapir as well as may other vertebrates and invertebrates. It holds a wide variety of plant and tree species. There are 3 wetlands which provide water for wildlife during the dry season. In these wetlands is where the Holmul river starts forming.
