The Wildlife Rescue Center (CRFS) aims to rehabilitate and release wild animals from natural and/or anthropogenic causes into their natural habitats.
Through this Program, the aim is to:
Position CRFS as a rehabilitation center in the country, with operational capacity and facilities in accordance with the needs of the species with which it works.
To be a reference center in terms of wildlife rescue and management for control enforcement agencies and protected areas of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, as well as for any institution that requires the services provided by the CRFS.
Generate networks with other institutions in relation to the rescue, rehabilitation and potential release of wildlife individuals.
Contribute to expanding knowledge about the biology, management and medicine of the species with which the CRFS works with.
Promote awareness and sensitization of society about the problems that affect native wildlife that enter the Rescue Center and make known the activities carried out within its framework in relation to the conservation of biodiversity.
Since its creation, the CRFS has received more than 2500 individuals of 184 different species, including 170 native and 14 exotic species, developing the diet, housing under human care, management and rehabilitation methodology for the different species that can enter the center.
In addition, it coordinates the release and translocation of animals to other government institutions, rescue centers and protected natural areas for species whose distribution range or environmental requirements are outside the territory of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Most of the animals released by the CRFS have a unique identification to track them, even indirectly by people who observe fauna in the different release sites.
With all the individuals that enter the CRFS, epidemiological surveillance and studies are carried out so as to implement the appropriate treatments for their rehabilitation.
