Who We Are
The Greenpop Foundation NPC is a leading environmental non-profit organisation (NPO#: 151-411 NPO; PBO#: 930050622) based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Our Mission
We are on a mission to educate for action.
As an antidote to eco-anxiety, we aim to inspire enthusiasm and build capacity for positive environmental action. Our work is diverse. We provide technical and financial support for reforestation and urban greening projects. We craft creative eco-education curriculums and awareness campaigns. We run engaging nature-based events and experiences. From getting our hands dirty running local projects to consulting for global organisations, we turn ideas into impact.
Greenpop was founded in 2010 and has since worked across Sub-Saharan Africa and empowered thousands of people around the world to get active (not anxious) about the future of our planet.
Our Work
Our work is separated into four main components: Forest Restoration; Urban Greening; Food Gardening; and Environmental Awareness. These four aspects guide our work to restore ecosystems and empower environmental stewards through reforestation, urban greening, food gardening, and environmental awareness projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. Greenpop was founded in 2010 and has since planted over 225,000 trees and educated over 350,000 active citizens across South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, and Tanzania.

Our Beliefs
We believe in (re)connecting people with our planet
We have become disconnected from nature, our beautiful planet and only home. If we (re)connect with nature and each other in meaningful ways, we believe that caring for our planet will become second nature.
We believe in getting active (not anxious) about the future of our planet
There are a lot of doom and gloom messages out there and it makes us stressed out, anxious and even apathetic. We believe that positivity and action are the best ways to motivate change.
We believe that changing the world is fun
When we give back and create value for the earth and our fellow human beings, joy is created – changing our own lives and changing the world. We’re on a mission to have fun and share this joy with as many people as possible.
