Participant in WWF’s Forests Forward programme since August 2023 and currently in the Performance Phase. In this phase, Manutata and WWF are jointly implementing agreed action plans and demonstrating progress towards the intended outcomes and impacts.
Consolidate the association model of Brazil nut producers; generating an example to follow for other producers in which productivity is maximized while protecting the forest and accessing new markets.

Improving Forest Management
This action area pertains to the management of forest resources, be it natural forests or plantations, for specific impacts (e.g. protection of watersheds, wildlife habitats, reducing illegal logging, etc.). Credible forest certifications are encouraged to be used as a verification tool for improvements. Show more
Summary of engagement
Manutata scources their brazil nuts from different producers in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Communities involved in the collection of brazil nuts often face issues wtih poverty and poor livelihood conditions. Through the engagment with WWF, Manutata will train the Barzil nut producers´ association APROMORI in order to help their members obtain an organic certification and therefore increase the selling price and economic benefits of their products. This will improve the producers´ quality of life while promoting forest conservation through sustainable harvesting. Thus, this initiative will serve as an example for other producers in the region, demonstrating benefits of associativity while promoting forest conservation at the same time.
