Active Restoration
Summary
The headwaters of the Pativilca and Santa river basins host an important, high altitude Polylepis forest that is crucial for water security in central Peru. However, the landscape has been heavily degraded from human impact. In partnership with the local community of Aquia, this project seeks to restore the native Andean forest with half a million trees in the next 5 years and create a protected area to conserve natural resources in the region for future generations.
