Local Landscape Partner
AlVelAl
The AlVelAl Association unites the regions of Altiplano de Granada, Los Vélez, Alto Almanzora, Guadix and Noroeste de Murcia. These regions are renowned for their high quality, rain-fed almond production. One of our objectives is to mobilise local society and transmit the vision that a self-sufficient, dignified region, full of life and prosperity is possible. We are committed to organic agriculture and livestock farming to improve soil fertility and water management.
Local business
La Almendrehesa
Our aim is to offer the products of this territory obtained with methods that regenerate the soil and landscape, ecologically, economically and socially sustainable, with a view to the development and wellbeing of the area. La Almendrehesa is a productive ecosystem that combines rain-fed almond trees as the main crop with other crops such as olives, vines, cereals or aromatic herbs with the implementation of hedges, vegetation cover, beekeeping and sustainable grazing.
Landscape restoration facilitator
Commonland
Our collective future depends upon our ability to restore the Earth: our common land. Commonland is a not-for-profit organisation that transforms degraded landscapes into thriving ecosystems, communities and local economies by connecting landscape stakeholders and providing a guiding approach to landscape restoration - the 4 Returns framework. Equipped with the right tools and approach, we can transform a landscape in one generation – 20 years.
Cooperative
AlVelAl Foods
The products available to purchase through the AlVelAl Foods platform are the result of a collective project of more than 300 farmers, livestock breeders and processors in southeast Spain.
Local business
Habitat
Habitat was born in 2019 as a local project dedicated to the promotion of regenerative organic agriculture of soils and landscapes through an Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Cooperative. Our farmers obtain a fair price for their organic crops in the Southeast of Andalusia and Murcia (specifically the regions of the Altiplano Granadino, Los Vélez, Alto Almanzora and Northwest Murcia) and in this way we can continue our activity to stop the effects of desertification in the territory.
