ALPI Group
Participant in WWF’s Forests Forward programme since February 2021 and currently in the Preparatory Phase. In this phase, ALPI Group, with WWF’s support, is building up specific baselines and action plans that will be the focus of collaboration.
Working together with WWF Cameroon, ALPI Group has committed to improved forest management and reducing threats to biodiversity in its FMUs, while generating revenues for local communities; improving their livelihood. Specifically, the company is aiming to: • Reforest / restore degraded areas in their concessions • Reduce internally cases poaching and other illegal practices • Improve livelihood of local communities through implementation of micro projects and improving schooling and health facilities
Action Area
Improving Forest Management
This action area pertains to the management of forest resources, be it natural forests or plantations, for specific impacts (e.g. protection of watersheds, wildlife habitats, reducing illegal logging, etc.). Credible forest certifications are encouraged to be used as a verification tool for improvements. Show more
Summary of engagement
WWF and ALPICAM are working together to restore degraded/deforested forest land areas within its concessions, as well as to reduce poaching and agricultural encroachment and create new jobs for local communities.
