REDD Tambopata - Bahuaja Project
Madre de Dios • Peru Started in January 2008 Active Conservation, Natural Forest Management, Plantation Forestry, Agroforestry, Agriculture
Summary
The purpose is to reduce deforestation and promote sustainable development in Madre de Dios. The strategy is based on promoting, both sustainable economic activities in the buffer zone of the RNTAMB and PNBS, and establishing conservation agreements in previously identified areas. The actions are oriented towards a "barrier" against the advance of the economic frontier (agricultural and mining) that avoids deforestation and forest degradation in order to reduce pressure on these PNAs.
